Introduction: Hana Nozu

Hello my name is Hana Nozu and I am a freshman here at UNR majoring in wildlife ecology and conservation. I was born in Sacramento California, when I was around 3 I moved to Reno, and then when I was 12 I moved to a small town called Elko. Elko is in Nevada and is about 4 hours away from Reno I went to middle school and high school in Elko. Since Elko is so small there wasn’t much to do I decided to join cheerleading my freshman year and ended up loving it and did it all 4 years of high school. Cheer was a huge part of my high school life and it taught me and helped me through a lot.
I come from a family of 4 with 2 dogs and 2 cats. My dogs are named Bella and Sasha they are both my dogs but I had to leave them back in Elko and my cats are names Moo and Sooki. I grew up with animals my whole life so it is really hard to be without a furry friend for the first time and my apartment doesn’t allow animals. I only have one sibling my sister Jayda who is getting ready to graduate from UNR and is going to be in the medical field we are very close and we live together. I am half Mexican and half Japanese my mom came from Mexico when she was 10 and my dad was born in California, so I have a big family who I am very close with. Being Japanese and Mexican I get to have a lot of great homemade meals and I am not picky at all there’s not a lot I won’t try but my favorite would have to be sushi that my grandma makes.
Things that I enjoy to do on my free time are I love to travel I like tropical places because I love the beach and swimming my favorite place to travel to is Mexico because of the food, my dream place to visit is Japan. I like to be outside so hiking, fishing, camping etc. I enjoy makeup as well and can spend hours just doing mine or other peoples makeup. I also love animals and originally I wanted to be a vet but since I also love the outdoors thats why I chose the major I did. I am very big on the environment and do everything I can to help it and inform others as well. Something weird about me is that I am totally obsessed with pigs. I absolutely think that pigs are the cutest animal and I am counting down the days till I move out of my apartment to a bigger place so I can get my very own pig.
In the future I would like to move somewhere like Alaska because I think that would be a great place to work with my profession. I plan to do whatever I can to make this environment and the animals living in it a better place.
