Dalton Taylor: Blog Post 1

Hello I am Dalton Taylor, 19 years old, raised primarily in Las Vegas, Nevada and I am  75% blind. I love to travel and as a young kid my family and I lived overseas in Europe and I was blessed to be able to take train rides and fly to other countries across the world. I have been to most of the countries in Europe, a few places in Asia, Mexico, 43 out of 50 states, and the Scandinavian countries (Finland, Sweden, and Norway). Do to traveling a ton I have had the privilege of trying lots of different types of food, and I am not afraid to try anything new food wise from different cultures.
.I love being in the outdoors camping for a week or taking a canoe trip or even doing a day hike. Some of my best memories are my friends and I huddled around a campfire for a weekend with tents pitched up by a lake. That being said I am a big city kind of guy as well. New York is my dream place to live. Being in the heart of the big apple with everything I need within a 4 block radius is one of my dream living situations. The hustle and bustle of the city, the people and everything available to see is so inviting to me.
Over time I have I grown to prefer certain things and have picked up a few hobbies. I use to boxing and fight (street fight) which was during a dark time for myself, but kept me from a darker path in life. While I may not be great at it I LOVE watching and play rugby (the Ireland national team is my favorite team to watch). It is a very unussual sport to play but I enjoy everything about it; the uniforms, the game in general, and the comradery. I love food in general. I will eat almost anything, but I specifically enjoy pub food. Nothing makes me more hungry than sitting in a pub like establishment eating a burger and fries with friends and/or family. Finally, I like fixing things, specifically classic truck, cars, and motorcycles. Eventually, once I get my license, I want a classic truck, a renovated motorcycle, and a classic American muscle car.
With the good part if life comes a bad part of life. By this I mean I have experienced a lot of death and pain in my life. I have had 2 brain surgeries. The first left me blind in my left eye and part of my right (suprisingly I can still get my license), and do to the surgeries and fighting I have multiple cool badass scars. Deathwise, 3 of my best friends have past away, alo within a 4 year period. And to honor them I do something that each one of them loved to do (rugby, singing, and dancing).

I am only 19 years old but I believe I have gone through and experienced so much. I am grateful for all of it because these experiences and and the things that i love to do make me who I am.

  1. What is your favorite part of camping? For me it was the fact that there was no plan in what we were doing, and no service on our phones.
