An Introduction: Aedon Zier

Hello fellow lads.

My name is Aedon Zier, it’s a German way of spelling Aiden (so I've been told) and sounds the same too! I’m a student at the University of Nevada, Reno and as of right now my major is journalism. At this point in time, I’m trying to become an Education major as I would like to move into the world of teaching. Specifically teaching English to high school students and then at the university level.

I’m originally from Henderson which is on the very outskirts of Vegas. But I’m apart of Vegas nonetheless and it’s where I’ve spent the better part of my life. I only came to UNR as to get out of the city and go for a new experience (while only being an hour flight from home). I’m looking to involve myself in the UNR community, taking up various jobs and trying to be apart of clubs.

On Fridays after school, you can usually find me at the UNR Dragon Club playing DnD with other club members. It’s a fun way to kill time before the weekend but we do go very late at times, sometimes till 3 in the morning. I’m also apart of Art History Club which only meets up during certain times of the month. Next week we’re looking into Surrealism and offering open discussion. We meet on February 13th at 6:30 pm in CFA Room 18 and I’m really looking forward to it.

My personal hobbies I try to focus on during the week keep me busy in between running to the next class. I enjoy music and even try my hand at making my own. I’m currently learning to play the guitar but making small progress. I’m starting to think that I might be tone deaf. On my computer, I like to use programs like photoshop to make photo-manipulations as I don’t know how to draw. I take heavy inspiration from old westerns and 80s inspired artwork to create most of my projects. Recently I’ve been trying to read more but my books seem to be piling up more than I can actually read them. I also enjoy working out and taking care of my body the best I can.

If I could imagine a perfect plain of existence for myself it would be on a beach enjoying a hot dog. There’s something about the simplicity of a beach that makes it a wonderland for people like me. The crashing waves, the warm sand, cawing seagulls, and a smell to you to the next dimension. It’s just one of my favorite places to be. I would enjoy that place more if I had my favorite food to back me up. And I usually do! There’s something so simplistic about the hot dog with just some ketchup on it that makes it the most glorious food ever. People always tell me how disgusting that is and how hot dogs contain rat poison in it but it hasn’t seemed to stop my heart yet.

I’m looking forward to English this year as I learned a lot last year. With that, I hope to do much better to create quality work for this class. Within a year I also hope to settle down in Reno and start up a life for myself. I just got to find a steady job first.
