Now, medicine has kind of been pushed on me my whole life. My grandmother had 7 heart attacks and 4 strokes before passing away at the age of 58 when i was only 8 years old. When I was 9 I developed a condition that i explain as a "mystery diagnosis" because despite the many years of tests and multiple doctors traveling to see me from across the country, no one can tell me what is wrong, which is scary sometimes because my temperature will drop randomly down to as low at 93 degrees and that can be deadly. Despite all that has happened though, it all has only made my love and interest for medicine grow, which has led me to where I am today: a Neuroscience major at the university of Nevada, Reno on track for med school, and I could not be more excited.
Okay. I swear I am not just a huge nerd (though I would be lying if i said i wasn't one at all). I am also very into sports of all kinds. Favorite to watch: football (go Steelers!!). Favorite to play: Softball.
I played softball from the time I was 3 years old until October of 2016 where
I shattered my knee cap during the biggest tournament of my
life. I had about 3 D1 colleges looking at me for catching and even more D2. I
was devastated. But then I found pottery.
My high school offered ceramics classes and I soon learned
that I was a very talented artist (which if you would have told me 2 years
before, I would have laughed in your face). Ceramics became a huge part of my life
which has led me to become an art minor with a focus in ceramics. I spend most
of my days in the studio on campus because no matter what day, even if there is
a class, I am welcome to come and work (and it is open 24/7). This is
especially awesome on Monday and Wednesday because I have English, get a lunch
break, then go straight to the studio and work until my class starts (which
means I’m in the studio for almost 4 ½ hours.
Hmmm. Speaking of lunch. Food is another one of my passions
(though in this sense I use passion loosely). I love all a huge variety of
food, but my favorite over all would probably have to be a perfectly done steak.
I’m talkin a Victoria’s Filet Mignon from Outback Steakhouse cooked perfectly
medium rare. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
Anyways, thanx all for reading this and I would like to hear
some about your passions and stories that have led you to realize that is what
you love. Also, keep all your hate for my boys (the Steelers) away, but any
other Steeler Nation babies, say hello!
