Hiya! My name is Ashen Mindnich, I'm a Biology Major going the pre-med route with a double minor in Italian and Theater! I'm a freshman, second semester!
Growing up I moved around a lot. I was born in Vancouver, WA and "lived" there until it was okay for me to travel. My parents and I moved to Phoenix, AZ where my little sister was born. Fun fact: I'm the only person in my family for 3 generations to not be born in Phoenix. After living there for a bit my family and I picked up and moved to San Diego, CA where I attended kindergarten. My parents got married in '06 back in Phoenix, shortly after they tied the knot my small family moved here. When I was eight I got my first pet, a pug named Otto who's easily my best friend. About a year ago we adopted another puppy, a shihpoo(shih tzu, poodle mix) named Lulu. She easily became Otto's little sister and the pair is now inseparable . For school I attended Diedrichsen Elementary, Mendive Middle, and Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology High.
I was never a straight A student but I'm a lot smarter than people give me credit for. My senior year of high school I became a nationally certified EMT. This is the first big step in my career, my end goal is to ultimately become an emergency-room doctor and open my own practice. My goal for the end of my junior year (college) is to have become a paramedic and a volunteer firefighter. I've also been playing soccer for about 13+ years now, and want to try-out for the UNR's soccer team.
When I'm not crying over math homework or studying for my AEMT test, I'm writing and performing original music. I play about eight different instruments: violin, guitar, bass, cello, viola, ukulele, piano, trumpet, all of which I taught myself how to play. I also really enjoy drawing and coaching children with disabilities how to properly play soccer. I'm also super into musical theater.
My favorite musical of all time is easily, Tick, Tick... Boom! Written and composed by Jonathan Larson, we enter in on a man by the name of Jon who worries he's made the wrong career choice and the stress of life just seems to frustrate him more. The original cast consisted of Amy Spanger, Jerry Dixon and Raul Esparza (my favorite performer of all time) who's voices mended well together to bring Larson's autobiographical piece come to life. It's nearly impossible to find a good bootleg of it online, since it's been done performing live since 2003, but I have my ways.
Besides from musical theater I'm a huge nerd when it comes to comic books and I'm the type of girl to obsess over TV shows long after they're considered "cool." I also have a growing collection of fountain pens and ink to go with them. My collection of vinyl records is enormous and is filled with a variety of different artists. Ranging anywhere from The Beatles to Wham! and everything in between. Horror movies are pretty awesome and I'm always ready to read a good book.
