An Introduction: Aleighsha Kim

Aloha everyone! My name is Aleighsha Kim and welcome to my blog. I am a first year pre-business major here at UNR. I was born in Fairbanks, Alaska and by age at 8, I moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. My family is from Korea and Hawaii. My moms side of the family migrated to the United States from South Korea in 1983. My dads family moved to Alaska in 1980 because my tutu kane (grandfather) was stationed there with the Army. My parents met in Alaska and eventually had me and my two other brothers. We're all five years apart and I'm the middle child. In 2008 we moved to Las Vegas and adapting to the drastic change in weather was hard. In 2012, my parents got a divorce and my dad left the house. It's all good though, they just weren't right for each other. In 2017, my mom got remarried to my step-dad and with him, he brought his two kids Ashley and Alex. They're a year older than me and they both attend USC. Oh ya, they're twins so that's cool. My older brother, Aaron, is a US Marine and is stationed in Hawaii. He recently got married and his wife gave birth to my beautiful TWIN nieces. Crazy, right? My little brother, Brandon, is in middle school.

So a little about me...
In high school, I was super involved. Marching band at one school, Concert band at another. I played volleyball for two years on the varsity team. I was apart of student council for two years as well. I was president of Key Club and I was also a member of Entrepreneurship club. I decided to attend UNR because there was no way in hell that I was going to stay home and go to UNLV. The weather here is so much better and I'm tired of Vegas heat. I'd like to say I'm pretty involved here on campus. Currently I work at the Wolf Shop as a Rush Associate, hopefully they offer me a permanent position. I am on the Ultimate Frisbee team(bottom right photo) and I love it. It's a lot more that what I was expecting and I'm really glad I joined. I'm also in Musical Therapy Club which is fun. I haven't found a group I vibe with yet, but hopefully I can find people who enjoy performing r&b/soul & alternative music. I am also joining the Hawaii Club this semester, so I am very excited for that. I am debating if I want to become an Ambassador for the school, but that'll probably have to wait for fall semester. I am also starting an intramural volleyball team soo if you're good, lmk! Some hobbies I enjoy include: longboarding, painting, ultimate frisbee, volleyball, music, and social media. What I mean by music is, I love to play music. I own a guitar, ukulele, and a saxophone. Playing music is my passion and I enjoy it a lot. I also love to listen to music, but who doesn't? My favorite artists are The 1975, JOJI, CUCO. P!ATD, and so much more. If you like alt & r&b/soul, hit me up!! We can exchange songs. Oh ya and social media. So I currently already have a blog on instagram, it's a private blog and I post everyday so this assignment should be easy. I also tweet a lot... I tweet as if I have a huge following but I don't lol but follow me @weeshakeys

The food stuff:
Okay so finally to the food stuff. I love every type of food. I'm not a picky eater at all, I enjoy all sorts of different cultures through food! But my favorite of all time is, of course, Korean food. I grew up on korean food and whenever I go back to Vegas, that's all I eat and cook. I really miss korean food so I might get a job at the korean bbq in Sparks, just so I can eat korean food again.

Take care!<3
