Jason Smith from Idaho
Me (amber Johnson): What was your favorite food
growing up?
Jason: Grilled Salmon
Me: Nice, why is that?
Jason: I don’t know I just always liked it
Me: ok cool , are there any special foods that you’ve
had in your life?
Jason: umm I don’t know what counts as special?
Me: any foods that have impacted you in a good or bad
way?
Jason: Oh! Well ya I guess, I can’t eat anything with
parmesan cheese, even the smell of it is hard to be around, my dad is an
alcoholic and when he would be home alone and drunk he would try to make
himself a snack or even dinner, he would always smother whatever he was cooking
in parmesan cheese. When I would come home and smell the burnt cheese I knew
that it was another night that I should leave him alone. The amount of things
that man burnt with parmesan on top is ungodly.
Me: I’m so sorry you had to go through that.
Jason: ya me too, but it’s alright
Me: well umm, is there any food that you can think of
that doesn’t bring up such a bad memory?
Jason: I.. I really like eggs for breakfast, my mom
would make me and my sibling’s eggs every morning before school and that was
always such a good family time for us to just sit and talk and be in a good
mood for the day.
Me: that’s a really cute story, I’m glad that you
still had a good relationship with the rest of your family.
Jason: Me too.
Me: Thank you for letting me interview you, and thank
you for giving me such honest answers.
Jason: Of course
Jason helped me realize that food doesn’t always
connect with people the same ways. He helped me realize that even if one type
of food is someone go too comfort food that, it can still be someone else’s
most hated.
It's my first time knowing about grilled salmon. He has an interesting food choice. Oh, and a side note, it's funny how the person you interviewed and my stepdad share the same first and last name.
