Blog 2 Eating Healthy on a Budget

Trying to eat healthy while on a budget can be stressful, and you may end up buying fast food just because its more convenient, but there are ways to stay healthy and to still stay within your budget.

1. Eating and buying fresh fruits and vegetables are the healthiest option, but even purchasing these can add up over time. Buying frozen fruits and vegetables helps save money and ensure a healthy diet.

2. When purchasing fresh foods (nothing frozen), make sure you try and buy more when they are in season. When these fruits and vegetables are in season, and they are grown locally, they tend to cost less so take advantage of this.

3. Another way of staying healthy on a budget is buying things like a crockpot and a freezer. These things can hold a lot of food and goods, and also require you to cook your meal ensuring that it's probably healthier than the fast food you would've gotten otherwise.

4. The one topic that no one wants to hear is the one about junk food. If society cuts back on purchasing junk food, a lot of money would be saved, along with the fact that your body will thank you later for not consuming a meal with little to no nutritional value.

5. The last way you can save money is by buying foods with a lot of protein in them. Meat can be expensive, but there are other options that can give you the protein you need. Beans and nuts are merely cheap and do a good job at replacing filler foods like junk food.

  1. I like how you explained the other option for proteins so that a variety can be worked into ones daily eating schedule.

  2. I agree buying frozen vegetables is a smart choice. I heard they are actually more ripe than the ones you buy in the produce section since they are flash frozen.
