5 ways to eat healthy on a budget

There are many ways to eat better while having a slid budget to follow. Here are some tips:

1. Sign up for your local grocery store rewards program. That will keep track of what you purchase and give you small discounts here and there. Even though the discounts may not be huge but saving five or six dollars on every grocery trip is five or six dollars you did not have to spend. They will also send you coupons and deals they have going on in the store.
2. Shopping at Winco and Walmart rather than high end grocery stores like Raleys. Winco and Walmart are the main stores that are known for having cheaper prices on their food items. Winco's produce is also a much cheaper and more fresh option than Raleys.
3. Purchasing off brand items rather than name brand. Typically the name brand items are at least 75 cents to a whole dollar more expensive. Look at the off brand items first and compare how much you could save when you buy off brand and not name brand items.
4. Always look for coupons. Every store sells coupons so instead of throwing away the news paper or coupon packets look through them and see if there is anything in there that you may need and use the coupon.
5. Buy in proportions. With produce always buy what you need right then. Most of the time you will buy certain produce and by the time you get to them and they have gone bad and they need to be thrown away wasting your money. If you could calculate how much money you could have saved by not buying something that you will eventually throw away, you would be mad at yourself for wasting so much money.

Using these tips will help you save money while trying to eat healthy. Stay away from the junk and find things that make your body feel good.
