Eating Healthy on a Budget
●
The Fist tip for eating well on a budget is
eating fresh food when it is in season. Consider stocking up and keeping it
frozen for the future. These types of food would be your typical fruits and
veggies.
●
Second tip is planning meal preps ahead of time
this could be some sort of protein, carb, and fat all together in a meal to get
all your nutrients. This will help you have your meals planned out for everyday
instead of rushing to a fast food joint for a $1 burger. Also meal preps help
diet better which is a plus for people trying to lose weight or stay healthy.
● Third tip is to keep your refrigerator all organized, by having each
section of food in each of their place such as a veggie section, meat section,
and fruit section. This will help make food easier and also help keep a low
budget on buying food. For example it will be easy to spot what is needed in
the household and what is not, this will prevent over buying food.
● The four tip is going to be repurpose leftovers, what this means is
having leftover ingredients and putting them all together into one to make a
great meal. For example if there was leftover rotisserie chicken last night you
can put it in a sandwich for the next day. This will help save a lot of money
also you won’t be eating the same things over and over again .
● The fifth tip is going to be shop at your local farmers market, this might
be a bit more pricey but at the end of the day you are helping your community
while having fresh organic food. It will be best on buying the food in bulk
which will help more on saving money. This is bette over any un-certified
products that possibly contain any chemicals.
The repurpose leftovers tip was a really good one, especially for college kids. One could come up with something very creative and 'interesting' with dinner from two nights ago and boom there's tomorrows lunch and no money spent.
