Vanessa Gallagher - Blog Post 1
Hello there, my name is Vanessa Gallagher. I am nineteen and my favorite food is spaghetti squash. I have two older siblings; my sister Jenna who is twenty and my foster brother D'amond. I also have a son, hes a Chihuahua and his name is Styx or Stinks if he is being a butt head. I rescued Styx from the kill list at my local shelter in Las Vegas. I have one main hobby and acrobatics. I train aerial hoop and power tumbling. Before I did that I was a level ten gymnast and was a national champion in 2017. I also was offered a scholarship to the University of Oregon for an acro tumbling scholarship but had to turn it down after tearing my ACL at the end of my Junior year in High School. I was more recently invited to audition for an annual show on the Las Vegas Strip called one drop. However it interfered with college so now I'm here at UNR. During winter and summer break I go back to the gym that I grew up in, Desert Gymcats, and work as a gymnastics coach. I also volunteer at a dog rescue organization called A Home 4 Spot. At A Home 4 Spot we take animals that have been deemed unable to be rehomed due to health or behavior issues and put on the kill list at our local shelter. We take those animals and take the time to rehabilitate them and find them perfect homes. It's easy to say that I keep myself pretty occupied. On top of that I am in a sorority on campus called Alpha Omicron Pi (AOII). I was introduced to Greek Life by my sister Jenna who also attends UNR. She and all of my other now sisters took me in as Jenna's legavcy and welcomed me into AOII durring my first semester. I fell in love with the chapter the first day of recruitment. All of the girls that I talked to were so kind and had so much enthusiasm for the chapter, I just had to join. I think that it's safe to say the I found my home away from home at AOII. As I said before I tend to fill my plate pretty full. However nothing that I ever put on that plate will cover up the time I spend with my family. I have strong Italian roots which means that I have a big family and have a special relationship with each member. When my sister and I are home on breaks my family throws a big dinner to welcome us back. I stand by my family with everything that I have. I love and support each member and they support me. Family means so much to me because when things go hard, no matter how bad I screw up, its my family and the ones who care that pick me back up. That's really all there is to me. Let me know if you can relate to the babbling jumbo of things that you just read.
For that "one drop" audition i know you said it conflicted with school but would you have ever considered online? so that you would be able to do both?
